May Merriment

I have been lucky enough to make some fantastic friends at a Disney chat board called To Infinity and Beyond. For the second consecutive May we met in Walt Disney World. I had a fantastic time! right up until it was time to say good-bye. That is the worst part. boo-hoo Is it May 2007 yet?!

I brought back a few pictures
and I mean few

It is time once again for EPCOT's International Flower & Garden Festival. The fabulous Donald and Daisy are featured at the parks entrance this year. Aren't they cute?!

The festival also included a butterfly house. Finally a bug in Florida that did not freak me out.

My favorite pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase is Japan. I love the architecture. And the shop is huge and full of fun things. Candy, Kimonos, Shoes, Socks, Toys and more

Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom there is a new ride called Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. Holy Cow! it is fantastic! You are going forward thru some ruins then OMG the track is broken! What will we do?! Before you know it you are firing backwards thru the mountain. We have stopped again. Over head we can see the shadow of something very large and furry. He's breaking off pieces of the track behind us! Now what?! We launch forward continuing the wild ride thru the mountain. Holy Cow! What is that ahead of us?! It's the Yeti! Wohoo! Good work Disney.
Here are some shots of the ride's exterior

While the rest of the group was enjoying Mickey's PhilharMagic at the Magic Kingdom I browsed in the shop outside the theater. They had a great 'Crabby Yet Lovable' Donald Duck line. I could not resist this hat. Do I look mad?

After a long day running around Disney World, some ice cream was in order. We headed over Disney's Beach Club for a Kitchen Sink Sundae. The sundae contains a scoop of every flavor of ice cream in the place, Hot Fudge, Caramel, one can of whipped cream, chocolate chips, sprinkles, brownies, angel food cake and a mountain of cherries and is served in a kitchen sink. It is great. It was no match for this group.

My sisters, PLEASE, raise your big toes and repeat after me....

The Open Toed Shoe Pledge

As a member of the Cute Girl Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:

I promise to always wear sandals that fit.

My toes will not hang overand touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.

I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free. I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.

I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.

I will shave the hairs off my big toe.

I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother or sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.

If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.

I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr.Scholl's if my feet need him.

I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids' sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.

I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swelland begin to look like Vienna sausages.

I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when sheasks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet lookgood.

I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they actually flipand flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.

I will promise to go my local nail salon at least once per season and have a real pedicure (they are about $20 and worth EVERY penny).

I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signsof wear... nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals.

I have a little dream

I am a baseball fan. Go Red Sox! Beyond being a baseball fan, I am a fan of ballparks. I like the way they reflect their team and city. Each park has a little (or maybe big) something the makes it special. My little dream is to see a game in every major league ballpark. So far I have been to: San Diego's Petco Park, L.A.'s Dodger Stadium, Anaheim's Angel's Stadium, San Francisco's AT&T Park, Boston's Fenway Park, and, added to the list last week, Arlington's Ameriquest Field. I think I am off to a pretty good start.

Fenway is by far my favorite ballpark. The feeling of history there is fantastic. Fenway opened in 1912. Not much has changed there over the years and not much should. When I was in Boston in 1995 my fantastically wonderful Auntie Penny and I took the
Fenway Park Tour. That was the best thing I have ever done in Boston. (That's saying a lot. I love Boston.) I got to sit in the dugout. (both home and visitors) I sat in the very dugout Babe Ruth sat in. Holy Cow! The tour also took us out for an up-close look at the Green Monster. That was so cool! We could see all the dents in the wall. I will definitely be taking that tour again.

I did not get to take the tour of Ameriquest Field but I will be back to Texas. And I WILL take that tour. What I like most about Ameriquest Field is the architecture. The Stars and Long Horns that line to outside are so great. So very Texas. And in the out field the the white railing, adorned with more stars, that line the out field boxes are really eye catching. I wish I had gotten more pictures at Ameriquest. I will have to take more next time. Here are a few:
This is the sort of 'midway' area. They have booths set up for hitting and pitching.

There is also this mini field for the kids to get a game in. It is so darn cute!

This is the view of the field from that area.

This is the view of the field from our seats.

I wish I had a picture of the exterior to show you but I did not get one. Darn it! Now I will have to go back for sure. tehehe

I know some of you are wondering how things went with Rick. Things went fantastically! I had a really great with him. We are still talking constantly. And he is hoping to get out to San Diego next month.
