The Life of Daisy Ditzy Do

Very Long Time No Post

Hiya! It's been a VERY long time since I've posted. Does anyone even check this anymore? Well, I hope so. Here I am.

I see that the last post about Berlioz was after his first surgery. He had another surgery to remove the same kind of tumors about 6 months later. He's doing great now. He's had so much skin removed that his belly fur has been pulled up to his side and the stripe that went straight down his back dips to the side a bit. It's cute though. It adds to his character.

The family news of late has not been as good. We've learned that my nephew, we'll call him Mr. X, has Metachomatic Leukodystrophy. We knew something was not right about Mr. X but...Woah. It's a hard thing to get my mind around. It's hard to look at Family portraits and realize that one day in the not to distant future there will be one less person in the picture. You're just not supposed to lose the little ones. Ya know?

Work is good. I'm approaching my fourth anniversary with No Fear Inc. I've learned a lot from the job. I'm hoping to move on and open my own pet sitting business this year. I've been pet sitting on the side for about a year now. I am much happier taking care of my animal clients then sitting in a cubicle. Say a prayer or keep your fingers crossed (whichever you prefer) that I can make that a smooth transition.

That's Kung Fu. We like to walk on the Carlsbad coast.

So there's the sum up of the life of DaisyDitzyDo right now. I promise I will post again soon.

The Part of You That No One Sees

You are passionate, romantic, and emotional.
You put love first in your life, even though you have often been disappointed by it.
You expect to be swept of your feet, and you never expect infatuation to die out.

Underneath it all, you are scared that you aren't lovable.
Your insecurity has ruined many relationships, as you are unable to see the love that's really there.
You are secretly afraid of being alone. Confronting your insecurities is incredibly painful.

B-Dawg's Boo-Boo

My kitty, Berlioz, has a boo-boo. It's an round, open, bump on his side. After some time with the cone and daily cleanings it has made no improvement.
We went to the v.e.t. She looked, she poked and said she has no idea what it is. Now he must have it surgically removed and analyzed.
:o( My boy has to have surgery. He has to be anesthetized and everything. I'm very worried that it could be something bad.

By the look on his face I'm guessing he's mostly worried about how long he'll have to wear that damn cone.

This picture is just for my amusement. I was using treats to try to get a decent picture. He got sick of waiting for the treat and came after it. I think I shall call this one "Conehead Attacks".

What the crap?!

Britney Spears shaved her head!

What the crap was she thinking?!

Enough of this politically correct crap!

This was one of my favorite Superbowl ads this year.

After talks with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, GM has decided to alter the commercial.

Come On!

It's a commercial!

AND

It's a ROBOT!

I am so tired of this political correctness, let's not hurt any one's feelings crap! Can't we just appreciate the cute little robot and grin when we find that it was just a bad dream?

Get over it people!

Geek Excitement

I am so geekly excited! I am making a sweater for a Bluetick Coonhound. She's a BIG dog. The design of the sweater is a surprise so that little picture is all I'll give up. I'll post full pictures when it's done.
I've taken a sweater pattern I already have and added my own details. It looks great so far.
I must get back to my knitting!

Grossology

The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is hosting Grossology:The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body. As you may guess it is about things like belching, stinky pits and urine. I knew I had to see this, so I called my old friend Leah. Her son, Sebastian, is just the right age for this. We had a great time. Check out the pictures.

This is Nigel Nose-It-All. He makes a great case for giving snot it's own holiday.

You Follow Your Heart

You're romantic, sentimental, and emotional.
You tend to fall in (and out of) love very quickly.
Some may call you fickle, but you can't help where your emotions take you.
You've definitely broken a few hearts, but you're not a heartbreaker by nature.
Your intentions are always good, even if they change with the wind

How You Live Your Life

You seem to be straight forward, but you keep a lot inside.
You're laid back and chill, but sometimes you care too much about what others think.
You tend to have one best friend you hang with, as opposed to many aquaintences.
You tend to dream big, but you worry that your dreams aren't attainable.

Go ahead stomp on my heart

This campaign will just rip your heart out.

I saw this commercial this morning. It made me stop getting ready and watch. By the end I was crying. It just rips my heart out and stomps on it.

Friarfest

Baseball season is just around the corner. Wohoo! Bring on my boys!

To get us excited about the up coming season the Padres invited fans to Friarfest. It was our opportunity to check out areas of Petco park we don't normally have access to. Check out pictures of my day.

Catching Up

I'm back online! Wohoo! Thank you Craig.

It's been more then a week since I last posted. I'll fill you in a bit.

Last Saturday I tried Twinkie French Toast. They are so much better then the Twinkie Pancakes. They are easier and less mess to make too. All I needed was Twinkies and eggs. (The brown bits in the egg are from the Twinkies. I forgot to take this picture before I started.)

The Twinkies fried up nicely. Frying the ends proved to be a task. I just used some tongs to hold it up until it stayed on it's own. The cream got warm and delicious too.

Here's the finished product. Do you have any Twinkies lying around? I highly recommend this recipe.

I also made some new dog friends this week. My friends Janet and Wilma each got a chihuahua puppy. The darker pup is Tama. Tama is Janet's. The lighter pup, on the bottom, is Mina. Mina is Wilma's. They're so cute and so much fun.

I also finished a few dog sweaters this week. This cream and green raglan is for Willie the pug.

This tiny red number is for Mina.

This argyle beauty is for my Texas bed buddy, Junior.

A very slow Friday

It's Friday. Here I sit. Trying to look busy without actually accomplishing anything. This day is dragging on forever!

I want to get on with my weekend. I have knitting to do. I have cleaning to do. I have a new Twinkies recipe to try. I have more knitting to do. I have 5 DVDs sitting at home waiting to be watched.

Is it 4 o'clock yet???

Twinkies Pancakes

I finally had a Saturday morning with no reason to get up and rush out the door, so I decided to put one of my Christmas gifts to use.

Santa brought me
The Twinkies Cookbook and a box of Twinkies. I am not Twinkies biggest fan or anything but Santa knows I can not pass up such a novelty.

This morning's recipe would be Twinkie Pancakes.

They are simple enough. Simply use the pancake batter of your choosing and slice some Twinkies.

Batter mixed. Twinkies sliced.

The instructions say the pour the batter onto a preheated griddle and place three Twinkie slices in the batter. Flip pancakes when bubbles begin to form.

So that's what I did. As you can see here, and as indicated by the picture in the book, the one side of the pancakes does not reach the griddle. I'm not too happy with this. I like my pancakes nicely browned on both sides.

Flipping the pancakes seemed to be just for browning the Twinkies. I noticed the Twinkie 'ends' burned very quickly. While the Twinkies burned my pancakes did not brown at all. Ick

I decided to try it again, my own way.
I placed the Twinkie slices on the cool griddle.

Then I poured the batter over the slices and turned the heat on. I waited for the bubbles and then flipped them.

As the batter on the other side browned, the cream from the Twinkies bubbled out of the pancakes. In the recipe version most of the cream melted and disappeared. I like the look of the gooey cream bubbling up.

Here is the finished product. I like my version of the recipe much better. While in the end the Twinkies do not add much flavor to the pancakes no matter how you cook them, cooking them my way did give you the sweet taste of the cream.

I'd make this again for the novelty of it but definitely not on a regular basis.

I can't wait to try another recipe! Next? Perhaps Twinkie Sushi.
